Play and Delight
Letting your playful inner child shine

When was the last time you let your inner child take the reins in your life to engage in play with gleeful delight?
I invite you to spend more time expressing your own unique playfulness. Perhaps spend 1-4 hours immersing yourself in something that sparks joy within you. Let go of all your worries, stress, to-do’s, anger, frustration, ruminations, future conversations you want to be having. Take all this weight off, let your nervous system experience something different, put your life energy into doing something that creates more lightness and expansion in your being.
There is no need to think or plan it. Let it come to you spontaneously. It can look different for everyone – making a flower arrangement, climbing a tree, lighting a candle and taking a bath, exploring a mysterious dark tunnel, or turning on the music and dancing like nobody’s watching (other than perhaps your dog). Doing something like this on a regular basis can have profoundly positive impacts on your well-being, and allows for inspiration, healing, creativity, and magic to blossom.
To me, it’s just as important as regular exercise. Sometimes when I feel stuck, want to work something out but can’t find the solution, or feel down for an extended period of time, doing something different and playful helps my energy move and helps regulate my nervous system. I love dancing so playing my favorite soundtrack and just wiggling my body in whatever way it wants to in front of a mirror and looking absolutely silly let’s my inner child feel so happy and confident! It also raises my serotonin levels and carries me forward past my internal block even if it’s in a small way. Try it on yourself!
When you dive into your activity, allow yourself to shine, allow yourself to be fully expressed, allow yourself to be delighted. Let your childlike joy be radiant, contagious, and lift up you, your family, friends, and those passing you by!
